PRIMUS (Barristers & Solicitors) was established in 2005 as a Legal Consulting firm with a bias for Litigation (civil and criminal), Secured Credit Transactions, and Property Conveyancing. The firm has since expanded its activities to include Investment and Commercial Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Patents and Trademarks; Oil and Gas, Tax Law, among others.

We are here to provide quality, adequate, affordable cost and time-efficient Legal and Advisory services, thereby adding requisite value to the lives,businesses and aspirations of our clients, applying state-of-the-art technology in all our processes.

Searches/Background checks and Verification

We conduct searches and investigation of titles, releases etc. on behalf of our clients, and perfect such titles at the various land bureaux/registries. For this purpose, our specialized subsidiary, the Credit Rehabilitation & Recovery Consultancy Ltd., is at your disposal for the investigation and verification of data and vendors’ identities, as well as those of their referees/guarantors, and the authenticity of the academic records submitted to clients’ organizations for employment purposes.

Property Management

Aside representing clients in the sale, lease and purchase of Realty, we also manage properties on behalf of clients, ensuring your rentals are delivered as and when due and also ensuring all fees and levies due from and to the landlord are promptly settled, including tenement rates and sundry statutory Returns as may be applicable.

Litigation

Our courtroom craft is backed by a culture of deliberate strenuous research and consultation. We operate with a network of external consultants including Senior Advocates and retired judges. Our partners have a combined 60 years post-call experience in secured credit transactions, business recovery and insolvency practice, family law, Torts, Criminal law (defence and prosecution), and general litigation

Company Secretarial Services

We serve as external company secretariat for our clients’ businesses, co-ordinating the statutory Returns and documentation, as well as Meetings and related programs. We also represent them in meetings with other companies and individuals, providing the Legal angle to issues and projects, as required.

Advisory

In addition to general legal advisory services, we also offer specialized Credit services whereby we represent borrowers in negotiations with their bankers, and the banks in negotiations with their borrowing customers, we also design restructure, rehabilitation and rescheduling programs to suit either party’s needs and interests in particular situations. In addition, we provide Loan Monitoring Services to assist the banks in stemming the tide of failed credit transactions by ensuring the customer keeps to their covenants, as well as trade and transact within the ambit of underlying agreements and purposes for the particular loans.

Obasi Donatus Nwabueze

Principal Partner

Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999, after graduating from the University of Lagos, Obasi practiced in Northern Nigeria and Lagos for five years, post-Call, before joining the banking industry in 2003. His last banking job was as (Senior Manager) Country Head, Business Support and Resolution (BS&R) – the debt management and recoveryarm of Stanbicibtc bank Nigeria, where he had responsibility for 47 Team Members, handling the Corporate and Investment Banking, Business and Commercial Banking as well as the Personal Banking Credit portfolios

Echezona John Chidume

Partner

Currently sojourning in the United Kingdom for further studies, Echezona J. Chidume was called to the Nigerian bar in 1999 after obtaining his LL.B [Hons] from Nnamdi Azikiwe, Awka in 1998. He has since his call to bar, worked with Messrs. Paschal Oguno Chambers [Legal Practitioners and Consultants] as Legal Counsel, before proceeding to the United Kingdom to deepen his experience in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice.
